End of Year Review: 2016

2016 has been a very busy year for Stirlin, one which has seen substantial growth in the company and the scale of developments and projects we are involved in.

At the start of 2016 we had 10 employees but this has grown to over 45 as we meet demand for all our services. We have also expanded the range of services we offer to include architectural design, joinery, dry lining and plant hire and sales. All of these services are already proving to be of significant benefit to the business and our clients.

Let’s get up to date…

2016 saw the completion of two of our commercial developments; Stirlin Court, Saxilby and Stirlin Point, Lincoln.

Stirlin Point occupies a prominent corner position on Sadler Road, in the leading industrial and commercial district to the south west of the city of Lincoln. The development has created 17,000 sq ft of freehold commercial property including offices, manufacturing facilities, warehouses and workshops, all now occupied by a large number of businesses including Linwave/Microwave Marketing, Europower Components, Eriks Industrial Services, Preptec and Heronswood Design.

Stirlin Court is a mixed use site, located at Saxilby Enterprise Park, with 35,000 sq ft occupied by businesses ranging from manufacturers and distributors to accountants and caterers. We have been developing sites at Saxilby Enterprise Park since 2008, the first of which was the development of a 15,000 sq ft unit, now occupied by OrderWise.

We’ve been delighted to hear of the growth in the businesses occupying these properties. The increasing demand for their products and services has led to the creation of more high quality jobs, with the total number of employees over both sites rising from 106, at first occupancy, to a current total of 213.

Riverside Enterprise Park, Saxilby

Our Riverside Enterprise Park development has progressed incredibly well during 2016. The first phase of the development began on site early in the year and has recently seen the completion of the first unit, a 5375 sq ft office and warehouse, for Agrigem Ltd. We are currently completing the remaining units in Phase 1 and beginning the preparation of Phase 2, which consists of 12,500 sq ft of light industrial units.

Minster Surfacing

We also completed a bespoke 5000 sq ft new office and warehouse for Minster Surfacing at Horncastle Lane, Lincoln. We have a long standing relationship with Minster Surfacing and were proud to be asked to carry out the construction of their fantastic new premises. The completed building provides them with high quality office space, to cope with an increasing demand for their services, as well as a workshop and warehouse for servicing their vehicles and machinery. Our in house design team, Stirlin Design, are now looking at future developments on the site on behalf of Minster Surfacing.

Residential

We also saw an increase in demand for residential extensions and renovations in 2016 with our construction team carrying out work on a number of fantastic properties, notably Newport Place and The Woodwards. Both projects required our usual attention to detail to deliver the high quality, bespoke designs and resulted in two fantastic properties we are delighted to have been involved with.

Our work in this sector will continue into 2017 with a number of projects currently on site including The Man Cave, a bespoke garden room building designed for entertaining guests, and a beautiful Grade II listed home, north of Lincoln. Our in house design division, Stirlin Design, are also working on the detailed design of a new indoor swimming pool and an extension.

Looking forward, we are preparing ourselves for an equally busy 2017 with some very exciting announcements regarding new commercial and residential development locations coming soon.

In February 2017 we will move into our new HQ, located at Stirlin Point, which provide our growing office team with much needed room for expansion and a workshop/store for our site teams. The move will also coincide with 2 new employees starting with the company; an administrative assistant and an architectural designer.
